|Cape Point Tours, The 12 Apostles|
The 12 Apostles Mountain Range is the stretch of mountainous rock formations in Cape Town stretching from the back of Table Mountain in a Southern direction towards Cape Point. It casts it's morning shadows over the beach town of Camps Bay during sunrise and watches the sun set on the horizon at sunset. We stop at a convenient parking lot named Maiden's Cove for a wide view over the mountains during our Cape Point tours.
The 12 Apostles Mountain range forms part of the Table Mountain National Park and is located on the West coast of the Cape peninsula. This park concentrates on the protection and preservation of the surrounding vegetation. It is named 'Fynbos', which translates to English as 'fine shrub' or 'fine bush'. This vegetation is unique to Cape Town and forms part as one of the floral kingdoms of the earth. On our Cape Point tours we will also see the famous 12 Apostles Hotel on our left as we drive from Camps Bay in the direction of Hout Bay, which is hailed amongst the most luxurious of the Cape Town hotels.
The 12 Apostles Mountain range is a popular sight around Cape Town and it is used as the backdrop for two major events taking place in Cape Town on an annual basis. These events are the Cape Argus Cycle Race and Two Oceans Marathon, of which both races make use of the roads around The 12 Apostles. On these two days, it is practically impossible to conduct successful Cape Point Tours as road closures will dictate most of the day's traffic.
Both the cycle race and marathon take place in the arly months of every calender year, meaning heat can sometimes play a huge factor for the runners, but also nature! In early 2015 Cape Town witnessed one of the biggest fires engulfing massive areas in and around Table Mountain national Park. The scars of this fire should be visible for a few more years and will be witnessed on our Cape Point tours. The damage and devestation caused to the Fynbos vegetation on and around Table Mountain and The 12 Apostles will take years to recover and the damages raked in a few millions in damages.

The hotel can be found and viewed en route our Cape Point Tours.
