Garden Route Tours, Farmstall

Garden Route Farmstalls is quite an essential part of our landscape. A visit to one of the many Farmstalls on route will make your Garden Route Tours just a far more pleasant experience. Not only does this gives you the opportunity to buy local arts and crafts but it also gives you a great opportunity to enjoy local cuisine, local fruit and locally baked pies, cakes and bread. On Route from Cape Town towards the Garden Route one will get the following nice farmstall but all different from one another.

Firstly it will be a Farmstall called Perigrine. Perigrine Farmstall is situated next to the N2 about 100 kilometres out of the city. This out of town location is an ideal stop to stock up on a great variety of goods and drinks. This Farmstall today is enormously popular for its fresh fruit and then people will order their Friday night freshly baked bread which they will collect on their way down to the Garden Route.

A few kilometers further also on the N2 is a farmstall called Houwhoek Farmstall. This farmstall is more known for its cheese cakes and a popular South African Cake called Milktart- so a ideal stop for coffee and cake if you need something sweet. The Farmstall that will make most people excited is a place called Dassiesfontein. Dassiesfontein started off like most other farmstalls as a humble little place that offered about the same as all the others.

They then started to specialize in old wooden Dover stoves. This was a immediate hit with locals together with local cuisine such as Waterblommetjie stew. Today this is the number one rated farmstall that is a one stop shopping and coffee break stopover onroute to your Garden Route Tours.

Lastly there is a Farmstall that is called the Blue Crane. This is a farmstall that is called after our national bird. This Garden Route farmstall is situated at the town of Heidelberg – a area where one will find a number of these graceful birds. This farmstall sells great Biltong – dried meat and some excellent locally freshly baked pies. All the above farmstalls is a must do stopover on your Garden Route Tours.
